01Introduction
At TutoriaGlobal, we value your trust and are committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains our practices regarding the collection, use, disclosure, and protection of information collected through our website and services. By accessing or using our services, you consent to the data practices described in this policy.
TutoriaGlobal is the controller of the personal information described here. If you have any question about this policy, or wish to exercise a right under it, contact us at privacy@tutoriaglobal.com.
02Information We Collect
We collect information to provide, maintain, and improve our services to you.
- Personal Identification Information: We collect information you provide directly, such as your full name, email address, physical mailing address, phone number, and date of birth.
- Student profile information: the class or grade being studied, education board or curriculum, subjects and languages of interest, school name, country and timezone, and — where you choose to provide it — a WhatsApp number for lesson coordination.
- Verification Data: To ensure the safety of our community, we may require identity verification, such as copies of professional certifications, educational mark-sheets, or identification documents (e.g., Passport or other government-issued ID, excluding restricted identifiers such as Aadhaar). Tutors additionally provide date of birth, country, and may record a short introduction video.
- Session content: live sessions and course lessons may be recorded, and we hold assignments you submit, the feedback and marks your tutor returns, and reviews you write.
- Payment information: we record what was purchased, the amount, currency and status. Card and bank details are collected and held by our payment providers — we never receive or store your full card number.
- Usage and Technical Data: When you use our platform, we automatically collect data about your device and interactions, including your IP address, browser configuration, operating system, and data on the specific study materials or courses you access. Security-relevant actions are written to an audit log together with the IP address and browser identifier they came from.
- Account sign-in data: if you choose to sign in with Google, we receive your basic Google profile and email address from Google in order to create or match your account. We do not receive your Google password.
- Communication Data: We may keep records of your interactions with our customer service team, including transcripts of chat sessions or recordings of phone calls.
03Children’s Privacy
Many of our Students are children. We treat their information with particular care, and the following applies wherever the Student is a minor.
- An account for a minor must be opened and operated by a parent or guardian, who provides consent for the processing described in this policy and remains responsible for the account.
- We collect from a minor only what is needed to deliver tuition — name, class or grade, curriculum, subjects, timezone and session history. We do not require a child to provide information beyond that.
- We do not serve behavioural or targeted advertising to children, we do not sell children’s personal information, and we do not build marketing profiles from it.
- Tutors see only what they need in order to teach: the student’s first name, class, subject and session schedule.
- A parent or guardian may at any time review what we hold about their child, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by writing to privacy@tutoriaglobal.com.
If you believe a child has given us personal information without the consent of their parent or guardian, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
04How We Use Your Information
We use your information for several legitimate business purposes:
- Service Delivery: To facilitate connections between students and educators, provide tutoring services, and deliver study materials.
- Personalization: To tailor our platform to your preferences, helping us recommend content that meets your specific educational needs.
- Operations & Security: To administer your account, verify tutors, detect and prevent fraudulent activity, investigate safeguarding concerns, and enforce our Terms of Use.
- Payments: To take payment, issue receipts and invoices, apply account credit, and meet accounting and tax obligations.
- Communication: To send you service-related notifications, updates, and—where you have provided consent—promotional information regarding our services.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects about you.
05Our Legal Bases for Processing
Where data protection law requires us to identify a legal basis — for example the UK and EU GDPR — we rely on the following:
- Performance of a contract: creating your account, scheduling and delivering sessions, and taking payment.
- Legal obligation: retaining financial records, and responding to lawful requests.
- Legitimate interests: keeping the platform secure, preventing fraud and abuse, verifying tutors, and improving the service — balanced against your rights.
- Consent: marketing messages, optional profile details, and — where the law requires it — the processing of a child’s information, given by a parent or guardian. You can withdraw consent at any time.
07International Data Transfers
We serve families in many countries, and our infrastructure and service providers are located in more than one. Your information may therefore be stored or processed outside the country you live in, including in India and in the regions operated by the providers named above. Wherever your information travels, it remains subject to this policy, and we use appropriate safeguards — such as the standard contractual clauses offered by those providers — where the law requires them.
09How Long We Keep Your Information
We keep personal information for as long as your account is active and for as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy.
- Account and profile data — while your account is open.
- Payment and invoice records — retained after your account closes for as long as accounting and tax law requires.
- Verification documents — kept only while needed to establish and maintain a tutor’s verified status, and deleted when they are no longer required.
- Session recordings — kept for a limited period so enrolled students can review them, and for the investigation of any complaint or safeguarding concern.
- Security and audit logs — kept for a limited period for security and fraud-prevention purposes.
When information is no longer needed we delete it or anonymise it so it can no longer identify you. You can ask us to delete your account and data at any time — see below.
10Data Security
We employ administrative, technical, and physical security measures to protect your information against unauthorized access, loss, or alteration. While we utilize industry-standard protocols, including secure payment gateways and encrypted connections, please be aware that no security system is impenetrable.
In practice this includes encrypting traffic in transit, storing passwords only in hashed form (we can never read your password), restricting staff access to what each role needs, and recording administrative actions in an audit log. Where an administrator needs to access an account to resolve a support issue, that access is logged.
If a breach occurs that is likely to affect your rights, we will notify you and the relevant authority as required by law.
11Your Choices and Rights
- Marketing Preferences: You may opt out of receiving promotional communications at any time by following the unsubscribe instructions in our emails or by contacting our support team directly. Service messages about your bookings and payments are not marketing and will continue.
- Data Access and Correction: You have the right to request access to the information we hold about you and to request corrections if that information is inaccurate. Most profile details can be corrected directly in your account.
- Account Deletion: You may request the deletion of your account and personal data, subject to our legal obligations to retain certain records.
- Portability, restriction and objection: depending on where you live, you may also ask us for a copy of your information in a portable format, ask us to restrict how we use it, or object to processing we carry out on the basis of legitimate interests.
- Withdrawing consent: where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time without affecting processing already carried out.
To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@tutoriaglobal.com from the address on your account, or contact us through the support centre. We respond within the period required by the law that applies to you. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the data protection authority in your country.

Our platform may contain links to third-party websites. Please note that these sites are not controlled by us, and we are not responsible for their privacy practices. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any site you visit.
13Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you before they take effect to give you an opportunity to review the updated terms. The version in force is always the one published on this page, with its effective date shown at the top.
